To begin functionality testing of an injection molding machine with troubleshooting skill sets required covering all 3 disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Controls).  The machine pre-tester must be able to interpret work instructions to a point where he is able to manually move all axis on the machine. This role may involve loading software, measuring and verify machine voltages, starting the hydraulic pumps and cycling the individual axis in manual.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Pre-Test the machine, calibrate and confirm all aspects of the machine manual functioning ensure overall machine. safety and quality

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and propose solutions to failed components and problems in an expedient manner.

  • Must have basic knowledge of hydraulic and electrical theories and principles as well as an understanding of Husky machines to troubleshoot and diagnose faults. Assistance

  • Must have ability to read hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.  Be able to safely work on hydraulic and pneumatic circuits and be able to change hydraulic and pneumatic equipment such as servo valves.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems at an intermediate level. Must have an understanding and ability to read electrical schematics and possess the knowledge to change electrical components while verifying safely with live power.

  • A basic working level of mechanical knowledge. Must be able to read drawings and resolve minor machine issues.

  • Must have some knowledge of all machine platforms (Hylectric, HyCAP, HyPET, HyPET HPP, HyPAC, RF, etc) and have the ability to move all axis on each of these machine models.

  • Basic knowledge of PC components to understand the software programs associated with the machines and troubleshoot problems such as corrupt software. This includes but not limited to:

  • EtherCAT knowledge to troubleshoot hardware

  • Creating USB’s and software backup

  • Commissioning servo drives and motors

  • Basic understanding of TwinCAT communications and PLC programs. 

  • Utilize the electronic test checklist as a means of tracking test progress.

  • Design and create testing equipment to test options and specials, including making testing equipment for assembly to better prepare the machine for test.

  • Assist in the preparation of procedural documentation and checklists

  • Follow pre-test work instructions to ensure global testing consistency

  • Ensure safety and housekeeping standards are met

  • Ensure test team expectations are adhered to as indicated by the guideline distributed to all Test Technicians (see Test Team Leader for guideline).

  • Prepare and complete detailed documentation; gather performance data and keep machine test records and record daily issues for management. This also includes creating work instructions for current machine platforms as well as creating work instructions for new machine platforms in a timely manner with limited validation vehicles and resource restraints.

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate technical information to individuals with varying levels of technical knowledge and comprehension.

  • Demonstrate initiative, integrity, team skills and a proactive approach to quality.

 Qualifications        

College Technician or Technologist with electronic diploma or equivalent experience.

 Experience

1 – 3 years relevant experience.
