As Engineering Team Leader, you will schedule tasks, mentor, and lead the multi-discipline Global Machines Solutioning team. You will support the global sales team with engineering inquiries to fulfil customer needs when customizing Husky machinery and equipment. The Global Machines Solutioning team acts as the key link between the sales support teams and production engineering. You will ensure that customer needs are clearly understood, defined and documented so they can be executed by the production engineering team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule and prioritize engineering tasks for multi-discipline engineering team
- Onboard and mentor new team members
- Set and document performance metrics and conduct performance reviews
- Work closely with the inside sales team (inside sales & area managers etc.) to capture all customer requirements with new projects
- Conceptualize custom solutions where Husky current offerings do not satisfy the customer’s requirements
- Work as a member of a cross-disciplinary team to clearly define and document the required system level design requirements for execution by the production engineering team
- Key contact for engineering inquiries from the global inside sales teams; answer inquiries as needed or route to appropriate parties
- Support sales and customers to address field service issues or field machine upgrades related to existing Husky equipment
- System level design with limited guidance, applying Husky design standards (includes rapidly developing a working knowledge of Husky products, tools, standards, and technology)
- Lead and/or contribute to design reviews
- Design risk mitigation including participation or facilitation of FMEA
- Participate in Detail Verification using knowledge of design standards
- Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory Environmental, Health & Safety requirements
- Creation of Design Documents and Validation Plans
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred
- Strong understanding of theoretical engineering principles and ability to apply them independently
- Design execution experience with 5+ years in a related industry is required
- Experience working with or designing customization for Husky Injection Molding equipment is an asset (Hylectric clamp, injection, or tooling).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
- Experience working with, or designing tooling and automated machinery with a focus on manufacturability is an asset (molds, hot runners, presses, automatic packaging lines, CNC machinery and similar)
- Skilled CAD modeling techniques required; Unigraphics NX11 preferred
- GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance stack up analysis experience is an asset
- Data analysis (Excel, Business Objects etc.) is an asset
- A flexible team player with technical experience and “out-of-the-box” creativity
- Strong time management skills and organized for maximum efficiency
- Demonstrated attention to detail when completing tasks
- Strong communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Strong sense of creativity and innovation
- Strong sense of ownership
