The Service team is a unique team in Development engineering responsible for enhancing the reliability and performance of Husky’s products by resolving systemic service issues. The team is responsible for all product lines (Machines, Molds, 3rd Party HRs, Controllers, and Auxiliaries) and works cohesively with a variety of different teams from across the business globally to complete investigations.

 

The Service team plays an important role at Husky to make our products a success! Resolving service issues reduces warranty spend, enables sales, and further improves Husky’s reputation in the industry.

 

Role Description

The service team is currently seeking an engineer/designer to specialize in resolving service issues for 3rd Party HRs and Controllers.

 

The successful candidate will join the team to tackle some of the most challenging problems. By following a systematic 8D problem solving process, the team member will analyze service data, identify/investigate potential root causes, verify true root causes, and develop permanent corrective actions.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze service data to fully understand and define the problem

  • Facilitate project meetings and promote collaboration between cross-disciplinary team members

  • Coordinate activities with product quality, field service, product development, test, supply chain, operations, and other teams across the organization as necessary

  • Complete in-depth root cause analyses  

  • Identify possible root causes and verify them through internal and external testing

  • Develop permanent corrective actions: from concept design, detailed design, analysis, verification, test, and validation

  • Implement resolutions in the field by providing field retrofit design solutions, service issue guides, and service bulletins

  • Implement the resolution in current and future production via the product change process

  • Provide troubleshooting support for the global product support teams

  • Regularly provide feedback to product development teams: present  project updates at service issue review meetings, attend design reviews to identify risks, submit continuous improvement ideas and submit/research technology scouting ideas

  • Present project updates and provide technical input at critical issue meetings with management

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and + 3 years of relevant work experience

  •  Excellent communication (verbal and written) and strong presentation skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Project – an asset, PowerPoint, Excel and Word)

  • Experience with Unigraphics and/or other 3D CAD software

  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as part of a highly cohesive team

  • Cross discipline interaction, communication and technical knowledge

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles

  • Demonstrated learning abilities and research capabilities

  • Mechanical design experience and possess a solid mechanical aptitude

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing technologies and assembly practices

  • Skills and knowledge of plastic processing technology an asset

  • Knowledge of the hot runners and associated equipment is an asset
