Job Description

This position is responsible for supporting the EMEA region including Switzerland’s Trade Compliance and Trade Security programs.  Position is onsite in Dudelange, Luxembourg.

 

Responsibilities:

  •  General - Interprets regulations for the EMEA region as they may pertain to the organization and implements appropriate trade compliance programs, process, controls, etc. consistent with regulatory requirements based on business risk and process gaps. Advises business of new or changes in regulatory requirements within the region.
  • Strategic - Regional compliance as it relates to new operation setup, business opportunities and product launches.  Advise on regional specific impacts.  Provide guidance and assistance to business unit management within the region regarding relevant regulations and the integration of regulatory requirements into business plans and processes.
  • Export Controls – Review exports sanctions and controls to identify impact to business. Works with regional teams to develop and implement export control programs in conjunction with global regulations.
  • Subject Matter Expert - Represent the organization with relevant government agencies, as needed, to maintain ongoing relations; respond to government inquiries and address issues that are above and beyond day-to-day transactional issues/questions.
  • Risk Assessments – Preform global risk assessments on business units to identify gaps and mitigate risk. Leads external/internal Customs audits.  Manage forensic investigations in conjunction with Legal, Corporate Audit, Finance and Human Resources department.
  • Internal/external Audits – Conducts periodic audits of procedures and processes, pre/post entry compliance reviews and implement controls for tariff classification, valuation, country or origin, preferential trade agreement programs, supplier on-site reviews, etc.
  • Standard Operating Procedures - Responsible for regional compliance manuals and SOP’s.  Work with Global teams to create guidelines and manuals standardizing processes relating to Trade Compliance and regional specific strategic and cost savings initiatives.
  • Training & Development - Develop compliance knowledge; work with in-country compliance resources and internal/external stakeholders to drive the understanding of trade compliance regulations and integrate the regulatory requirements into business plans and process.  Develop compliance training as necessary.
  • Leadership - Provides leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the Regional Trade & Customs Compliance Team (interviews, hires and manages the overall performance of the team). Work with Global team to implement global initiatives and strategies at the regional level.
  • Trade Security Programs (AEO) - Sets the requirements for the country/region as required to maintain certification.
  • Technical - Subject matter expert for all GTM and software implementations; operations, training, and development.

 

Qualifications:

  • Legal or Trade Compliance Designation preferred.
  • University degree (Legal, Trade Compliance, Finance)
  • Strong technical knowledge how to interpret government regulations and implement business processes in accordance with the regulation to ensure compliance around import processes, trade agreements, export control, trade security, etc.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate people, influence others to work towards a common business and/or team goal, resolve conflicts, communicate well with team and others, and provide and be receptive to feedback.
  • Strong knowledge of implementing regulatory requirements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Detailed oriented and excellent communication skills verbal and written.  English fluency is mandatory.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word and Access (preferred)
  • ERP knowledge
  • 5-7 years of technical trade compliance experience.
  • International Import & Export Experience preferred.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
