Job Description
Husky continues to secure its leadership position through Innovation. Product Development plays a pivotal role in supplying Husky with a continuous stream of Innovations that anticipate and serve market needs. As a processing specialist, you will focus on identifying end to end processing needs and requirements for injection molded article production and you’ll support design process for closure, packaging, medical and PET molds (from concept to validation).
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate in a systematic manner new and current plastic molded article and their impact on injection molding process requirements
- Support the understanding of the lab scale testing, its mapping to production scale and the related documentation
- Operate IMM and produce specific parts for internal use under controlled conditions to guarantee quality and accessibility of final package performance
- DOE type exploratory work on injection process to go beyond current knowledge or state of the art injection molding
- Schedule all testing on the lab IMM machine and the other lab equipments
- Organize lab area and be responsible for equipment availability (plan maintenance IMM & tools calibration, order spares & resin, etc.)
- Support product launch initiatives and competitive intelligence, audits, in-field testing at customer sites
- Creation of Design Documents and Validation Plans
Qualifications:
- Bachelor or master’s degree in Plastics Processing or Polymer Engineering or equivalent experience
- Several years of plastic processing experience
- In-depth understanding of the scientific principles in the injection molding process is considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of the medical market, applications and associated regulations is considered an asset
- Understanding of material rheology and melt behavior of plastics is considered an asset
- Knowledge in injection molding machine, mold and hot runner design is considered an asset
- Ability to use tools such as Minitab, hook up instrumentation, etc.
- Willingness to travel (monthly basis)
- Fluent in English (German or French are considered an asset)
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation)
- Self-motivated with strong project and time management skills
- Confident decision-making, judgment, systematic, open-minded team player
