Primary responsibility of the Assembly Technician is for disassembling, inspecting and assessing molds for hidden damage. The other focus is also on conducting preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, cleaning and storage of prefabricated parts & molds onsite. Emphasis will be put on ensuring the molds & prefabricated parts are well maintained to facilitate re-assembly requirements to the molds manufacturer’s specifications. Additional duties may include light repairs.

Responsibilities:

  • Take apart molds after initial estimate, clean, inspect internal structure from initial assessment & identify additional damage.
  • Selects and follows dis-assembly procedures for a full mold or part of a subsystem (mold).
  • Repair prefabricated parts to form completed systems.
  •  Inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining and repairing of compression molds.
  • Identifies the symptoms and can describe a situation or problem they are experiencing.
  • Work with Refurbishment team to complete projects as per production schedule within tight deadlines, with quality craftsmanship.
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on all equipment and tools.
  • Basic knowledge to solve electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, plumbing issues. Basic understanding of hydraulic / electrical and cooling systems.
  • Clean, inspect, conduct minor repairs.
  • Read and interpret documents such as blueprints, scope of work documents.
  • Document and record additional damage and required parts on a damage report.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment
  • Competently and safely use all tools and disassemble molds and operate all machine tools in a safe manner.
  • Perform light non-structural repairs – light finishing, sanding, minor bumper repairs, etc.
  •  Performs other duties as requested

  • Root cause analysis and problem solve quality issues
  • Support to internal stakeholders / customers
  • Inspect and pre-test mold and/or components to determine testing readiness
  • Ensure Husky quality standards are met by following appropriate processes
  • Taking care of simple to complex molds requiring the incumbent to possess strong interpersonal, listening, mechanical, troubleshooting and observation skills while handling and solving issues.

 

Implement continuous improvement initiatives in parts and procedures

 

 

  •  Adopts continuous improvement programs

 

Lead cross-training and knowledge sharing activities with other team members

 

 

  • Crosstrain in other areas within the business, and train other team members
  • Transfer and share knowledge with other team members
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work with minimum supervision on large compression Molds


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certificate / Diploma in Electro-Mechanical is preferred.
  • Mold Maker / Tool and Die Maker – Red Seal Certificate preferred
  • 433A Industrial Millwright certification is preferred.
  • Welding experience would be a preferred asset
  • Knowledge of Mold design / function.
