This position is responsible for developing high level design concepts to support the application engineering group’s efforts in promoting sales gains.  

Key Responsibilities/Areas of Accountability:

  • Responsible for developing design concepts for complex systems
  • Provide design layouts for both internal and external review
  • Evaluate multiple options for complex systems
  • Prepare concept and engineering package that can be effectively delivered by the sales team
  • Support service design requirements
  • Provide presentation support at customer locations
  • Provide back-up support to Application Engineers
  • Act as a technical resource to others in the business
  • Support production design on concepted projects
  • Collaborate with the Service Coordinators related to all design concept issues that occur with the customer
  • Participate in new product development teams
  • Contribute to kick-off and send-off design reviews for concepted projects
  • Support and contribute updates to application guidelines
  • Support Flow Simulation team with required hot runner data
  • Contribute updates and improvements to design guidelines

Performance Measurements

  • Application of the correct design principles  (i.e. minimize design issues related to concepts)
  • Quality of presentation material developed as a result of concept
  • Customer and regional feedback to be obtained in regards to concept support, professionalism and know-how.
  • Recognized excellent teamwork capability within the business.

Qualifications:

Education

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Plastics is preferred

Related Experience 

  • 2+ years of experience in Husky Hot Runner design
  • 2+ years of experience in AE Sales Conceptor role
  • Intermediate to advanced 3D solid CAD
  • Experience with heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and stress analysis
  • Understanding of manufacturing process for producing hot runners and molds
  • Proficiency in UG
  • Advanced understanding of plastic injection molding technology
  • Skilled at preparing and delivering presentations
  • Willingness to travel as required
  • Must be well organized to include the ability to schedule multiple resources and activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in BAAN
