Work within a team of multi discipline Engineers/Design Specialists in the development of new products. This includes all steps within a formal product development process and focusing on conceptual design and design discipline while delivering high quality, high performance, reliable and cost-effective designs on time.
Key Responsibilities/Areas of Accountability:
- Compile and maintain product definition
- Convert product definition into design concepts with minimal guidance
- Apply scientific/engineering principals in execution of design solutions
- Contribute to the formulation and/or evaluation of business cases for specific projects
- Complete concept level design with minimal supervision and drive innovation in system level design
- Create Husky design standards
- Mentor designers in the area of primary expertise and lead in the development of engineering talent
- Execute and/or provide support during the preparation of details, configuration of product templates and bill of materials
- Execute and/or provide support in checking details, assemblies and BOMs for assigned projects
- Maintain thorough project documentation for all aspects of assigned projects as per Product Development Process
- Ability to function as a project technical lead
- Participate in or lead continuous improvement activities
- Participate in or lead validation activities
Technical/Professional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Skilled in calculating design parameters.
- Skilled user in 3D modeling and detailing techniques
- Understand and proficient in use of FEA (Ansys Workbench preferred) and CFD tools
- Proficient in fundamentals and application of GD&T
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
- Proven ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems with innovative solutions
- Project leadership abilities
- Capability to multi-task
- Strong decision-making ability
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
- Sizing and selection of components (for example, but not limited to motors, sensors, bearings, gearboxes, pneumatic and hydraulic components, etc) as well as material selection and application of design standards
- Hands on – ability to complete basic mechanical assembly tasks
Qualifications:
Education
Post-secondary education (Bachelor’s in engineering preferred) or equivalent work experience.
Related Experience
5 or more years design experience in a related industry preferred.
