Job Description

In this role you will be responsible for defining and implementing the sourcing strategy for a specific commodity group on a global basis for all Husky business units as well as managing the performance of the applicable supply lane. 

Responsibilities:

  • Identify key stakeholders in NPS related spend globally. Build and maintain effective strategic relationships to ensure collaborative spend management.
  • Responsible to provide the inputs and create a draft strategy for categories and execute the agreed upon strategy accordingly.
  • Develop and lead main strategic sourcing initiatives / strategies (> xxx annual turnover), coordinating with other functions. This is inclusive of new supplier / parts evaluations.
  • Coordinate all contracts with main suppliers.
  • Responsible for delivering on the category strategy.
  • Have ownership and deliver necessary outcomes for critical and Operational suppliers.
  • Next escalation level beyond Purchasing Team Leader/ Regional Sourcing Manager for supplier issues.
  • Manage supplier score cards.
  • Stay up to date on purchase order status (escalation point for PO issues after Regional Sourcing Manager and Purchasing Team Leader).
  • Provides inputs on lead times, supplier capacity, and variability risks as inputs to inventory management.
  • Provides input on readiness and shortages.
  • Be consulted on any expediting action required.
  • Assist to resolve issues on the “supplier side.”
  • Provide inputs as necessary to the NPS Director.
  • Track material cost savings and PPV changes.
  • Be informed on any quality issues or concerns.
  • Provide input to options when quality issues arise.
  • Coordinate appropriately with supplier quality team and regional sourcing manager for escalated specific commodity issues including relentless root cause analysis and error-proofing to mitigate impact to the business.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or company policies, procedures, work rules, standards, and guidelines, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree or preferred bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Commodity Manager/Sourcing Manager or equivalent role with strong network globally with in-depth knowledge of key players and market drivers.
  • Focused on delivering exceptional results, knowledge/understanding of the commodities and a demonstrated passionate sense of ownership.
  • Experience with formulation of global sourcing strategy and/or creation.
  • Technical understanding of the manufacturing processes involved in producing the final commodity parts.
  • Experience in technical assessment, limitations, and opportunities during introduction of new product development or technology.
  • Understanding of "total landed cost" concepts, basic cost accounting and inventory optimization.
  • Understand lean manufacturing principles, experience with process mapping.
  • Negotiation experience required.
  • Analytical acumen; Strategic Thinker.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office and other software tools for analysis.
  • Extremely organized with superior follow-up and follow through.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to tailor communications to audiences at all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Highly self-motivate and self-directed.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, global environment.
  • Able to travel in region or to foreign countries to assess and evaluate potential new suppliers, technologies, products.
  • Fluent English, additional French and/or German language skills considered an asset
